I Am Ashamed

No, not of anything I have done, but because of a woman who lives in the same city as I do. As it has already made it's rounds on twitter Carol Belton very stupidly made some comments about the recent Theo Fleury/Graham James situation and said she was sick of hearing about Theo Fleury.

Here is the full article as posted in The Star Phoenix

Enough of Fleury

By Carol Belton, Letter fo the Editor, March 29, 2012

Is anyone else as sick of hearing and reading about Theo Fleury as I am?

What Graham James did was wrong and abuse should never happen to anyone. Did Fleury and Sheldon Kennedy do anything to stop it? Fleury could have walked away and in doing so may have prevented it from happening to someone else.

But Fleury wanted to get to the NHL at any cost. That cost was James.

And what about all the people to whom Theo Fleury gave drugs and money for sex? Is it not the same thing/ Is being a “john” and doing drugs not a crime?

Where is his jail time for his crimes? Enough already.

Carol Belton, Saskatoon

OK you stupid, stupid woman,(Yes I am trying to refrain from using too many swear words in this one) has Fleury made mistakes in his life, yes. However is he doing this for publicity, not a chance in hell. The reason that Fleury wrote about this in his book is because he wants to bring awareness to the situation so that it doesn't happen to other people.

That is all I have for this one, I am ashamed that a person who lives in the same city as I do thinks this, and makes me contemplate, if I ever actually met this woman, I would have some very choice words for this woman, and me using the word woman is very civil for what I want to call her.

My Thoughts on the Lingerie Football League Coming to Saskatoon

Earlier this week, it was announced in the city I now live in, Saskatoon, that the LFL would be putting a franchise here to play in the upcoming season.

Currently in the one local newspaper, The Star Phoenix, it has been a major topic in the letters to the editor where it has been getting abused worse than Rihanna did by Chris Brown. Mainly they are saying that the women are just sex objects in this and that there is no actual athleticism in some of the more cynical ones that I have read or heard. Some of them are saying there is athleticism but it is secondary to the women that are playing looks like whores as far as they are concerned. I should also add that most of the comments that have appeared come from women.

The decision on this to have the LFL come to Saskatoon was determined by city officials as the City of Saskatoon does the day to day running of the Credit Union Centre and say that they re wanting more dates for the CUC to be filled and they are in the business of making as much money to fund other projects as the current mayor has rolled up quite a deficit on wants, not needs.

Now, onto what I think of it. I am a fan of all athletic competition and also love to play sports. Also, I have actually seen one of these games take place and happen to know that the girls that go to play aren't trying to allure the fans by having catfights on the field, they are there to play and to win. They just have gone in to an area with of sports where they don't have to promote the athleticism as much because they can sell it on the sex factor because the women who are going to be playing are also attractive and barely wearing any clothing.

Also on the topic of women talking about how they feel they are being exploited as sexual items in this. As I recall a few months back, ESPN came out with their body magazine which had professional male athletes completely naked in it and given the facebook posts and comments on it, especially about the Ryan Kesler one, since I am from British Columbia, I had to deal with a lot of female friends who also like the Canucks talk about and you could pretty much hear them masturbating over facebook.

I personally think that we have become too over-sensitive to anything that can be considered controversial, remember the accidental publish by ESPN on Jeremy Lin with the whole "Chink in the Armour" when Lin had 9 turnovers in a game. Bottom line is this, you don't like it, we know you are not going to support it, but let people make up their own damn mind and if it is not a success, jut use it as another weapon as to why you think the mayor should be out of office.

Vic Toews and My Privacy

If you are from Canada, you are probably already some what already familiar from the name in my post title. If not, I will inform you about this numb skull.

Vic Toews in a Canadian Member of Parliament (The equivalent of a US Congressman) and is the person championing Bill C-30 in the House of Commons. This bill basically is going to give any law official free access to any of our online information without a warrant and allow us to our IP address and see all our information which is our digital finger print. But that is not the worst of it, oh nowhere even near. He also wants to have every website we go to recorded. But the thing that set most people off on this is when Vic Toews said, "You can stand with us, or the child pornographers." (More on this comment later)

If that is the case I will really just fuck with them by going onto every website ever and if they want to read through how many websites there are in the world just to see if they have the ability to get through all of it just to realize about halfway through they are dealing with a troll who prefers a certain level of privacy.

I understand and support people who want to arrest and put away child pornographers, but the bill is not going only after a very small percentage of our population that actually participate in this heinous stuff, it is going after everybody.

Here is a piece from Global News on what Bill C-30 is about

So let me point out some facts about what is in this video. Right now, the government can basically ask us for all our stuff suck as name, address and IP Number, but any more than that requires a warrant, I am alright with what we have right now, I haven't done anything that is worthy of criminal investigation and all I have ever done on any type of platform on the internet has been on here, twitter or facebook, so if you want to know my opinion on something, it is usually been said on one of these sites.

For a faster rebuttal and more eloquent than I can ever put it, I am putting in another clip, this time from the Rick Mercer Report. Also, I agree with everything Rick Mercer says in this clip.

Open Media which is a group of Canadians who are somewhat of a watch dog on things that effect everyday things we do also are big on wanting this bill shut down as they have had conversations with a judge on the subject, who asked police for one instance of where they would have need of this bill to do there jobs properly, the judge is still waiting for a reply.

Also, since this person of questionable intelligence brought this bill before Parliament, someone decided to take something that was already on public record and available to people and expose it to what he wants to do with us, and I am pretty sure it would be something he would want left quiet, his divorce hearings in front of a judge. To add fuel to this whole section, you must also understand that this is a man who has spoken before on the sanctity of marriage, yet banged a much younger woman and got her pregnant. Vikileaks, a now closed twitter account decided that if he was going to try and pry into our lives, we should give him a taste of what happens when people pry into his private life and expose him and what he has done.

Now onto his comment about standing with the child pornographers. Vic, seriously, if you are trying to use children as a cover for this we are not buying it, not even the police can not come up with even one good cause for this bill.

Come on out and tell us the truth behind the bill, we won't be the slightest bit surprised when you would tell us it was a way of trying to bother people who wouldn't vote for you, we want our privacy, not an open market of information to people who turn out to be bigger criminals than some people behind bars.

Seriously, this is allowed? And my view on news coverage

If you are unaware of this, you probably aren't from North America but the Superbowl is tomorrow and the kickoff is at 6:29pm Eastern Time but if you don't want to miss a moment of the pregame coverage, tune in 9 and a half hours earlier because that is when it starts. Yes, you read that right, 9 and a half hours of pregame coverage to cover every thing that no one really will give a fuck about. Seriously, how much stuff can be that important that it needs to be in the pregame show, oh wait there isn't, they pretty much have to talk about how the last time these two teams played in the Superbowl is how the Giants ended the Patriots perfect season. All these guys are going to do is repeat the same stories with different NFL analysts saying the same stuff over and over and possibly every single what if scenario of stuff that could happen. Honestly, I won't tune into this crap until about 6:15 because that is most likely when the coin flip is going to be around.

The other part of this I don't like is since I live in Canada, I don't get to watch the commercials that the arm and a leg are paid for, instead I get whatever CTV decides to put on which means I will probably be subjected to all their craptacular shows they want to push to make us think they are good, lets face it, there is nothing to watch on CTV that you can't watch on a U.S. channel.

On conclusion of this subject, all you are going to get is 9 and a half hours of sophisticated torture where they will hope one thing intelligent comes out of these "experts" mouths and hope that nothing controversial or stupid is said. However I put the over/under on stupid things said in the pregame at about 10 1/2 and since they don't want anything entertaining said in the game I am going to say 15 1/2 on stupid or way to obvious things said. Also my prediction is 31-27 Giants.

Now onto the other piece I have in my title, which is how I feel there has been a major failure in the way news is covered.

It seems now, more than ever, it isn't news that gets covered unless it happens to be a severe disaster that gets covered. We get to see stuff on the Costa Concordia in press releases, but everything else now is just spun by whatever company puts it out to say what they want it to say.

These major media outlets have become so concerned with financial income to feed there exorbitant salaries and to keep the promotional dollars coming in than upsetting company that may pull it's money because you showed them in a negative light for someone actually doing their job because the company did something unethical or is in some sort of legal trouble.

We also see some media outlets, such as ESPN that are so self serving that any special event they have on is just a self glorified pat on the back that it is nauseating to even a casual viewer.

Everything has become so much more about how much more money can we take from our sponsors and make sure we don't offend the people that give us money and insult the intelligence of our viewers that not much on TV is even worth watching.

That is all I have for this right now, until next time, keep your stick on the ice.

PED's and Frank "The Bonesnapper" Mir

Well, as of yesterday, it was announced that Milwaukee Brewer's Outfielder, and National League MVP Ryan Braun tested positive for Performance Enhancing Drugs (PED's). Ryan Braun was informed about this in October and then asked for another test where he came up negative.

Regardless of what the second test says, there are going to be people that say he is guilty. However, Braun's camp is saying there are significant differences between the two and saying the first one is flawed in some fashion.

I think the only people I can even recall to openly admitting to doing or having done steroids and being caught or just admitting it are Jose Canseco, Ken Caminiti, Tim Sylvia, and Thiago Silva.

However, when you look at Ryan Braun, he doesn't have the look of a guy you would automatically have me saying, I would test him often because he is obviously using.

I may be trying to be an optimist on this, but I would just like people to be open and honest.

Onto another thing to do with PED's, former Giants OF, Barry Bonds may be facing some jail time for purgery for lying to the grand jury about taking PED's. I said this when the Clemens indictment came up, WHY THE FUCK IS CONGRESS CONCERNED ABOUT BASEBALL PLAYERS USING STEROIDS? I am sorry, but when it comes to athletes using steroids that should be the realms of steroid testing, it should be in the hands of the sports organization to do testing and government shouldn't be getting involved in any form. Government should be focused on more important things, like the deficit, education, the banking crisis, war crimes committed by George W. Bush, why they went into Iraq and found not even a trace of biological or nuclear weapons.

Personally, I think any and all charges against any MLB player should be thrown out and the people who brought forth these charges and have them suffer to the most annoying stuff around today (The list is most likely going to include Nickelback, Justin Bieber, Rebecca Black, John Cena's monologues whatever else causes bleeding of the ears, eyes and other extremities).

Now onto last night and UFC 140. I wasn't able to catch the event because of work, however I did catch Mir vs Big Nog on a link this morning and Frank Mir came back and took apart (literally) Nog's arm and submitted the former champ by snapping Big' Nog's arm with a kimura. For those of you keeping score, that is two guys that Mir has broken the limbs of in fights, the first being Tim Sylvia. I personally think that guys have got to quit being so proud and when they realize their limbs are in trouble, tap. There is nothing wrong with saying someone is better than you and living to fight another day sooner rather than later.

That is all I am going to speak on for now, until next time, stay away from PED's

Stuff in sports and other things ticking me off lately.

Well, it has been a long while since I have commented on Sports on this blog but there has been a lot of stuff that I don't think would fill a blog to the size of my liking so there is going to be a whole ton of different items in this one.

The first has to do with the wimps that play in soccer. I recently caught the 2nd Leg of the Seattle Sounders and Real Salt Lake and it is one of the reasons why people tend to dislike soccer. In the first half of the game, a player from Real Salt Lake was not allowing the Sounders to take their free kick by standing right in front of the ball. The Sounders players then shoved the Slat Lake player and you guessed it, he fell like a sack of bricks. Good on the ref though for not penalizing the Sounders player for the shove as this was obvious poor sportsmanship from the RSL player. Than we go into the second half where the Sounders score on a penalty kick from the spot. The Sounders go to retrieve the ball and the goalie is not giving it up, a Sounder's player goes to grab the ball from the goalie and as soon as he tries to reach for the ball, you guessed it, drops faster than a two dollar hooker. If you need any more of a reason that some people don't like soccer, I am not sure what to show you because this was absolutely disgusting. (Point of Interest: Why the fuck does the Salt Lake Soccer Club called Real Salt Lake? the teams that use Real in the Spanish league, Salt Lake is not in Spain nor does it have a very big Spanish population. Just saying.)

The next I wish to speak of is the craptacular television of the gold glove award show on ESPN. It was very much done like the ESPY's in the fact that it was god awful, much of like most ESPN decisions recently. Maybe the awards for Major League Baseball would be better if they did like the NHL and didn't have them spread out or had ESPN do the production and the interviews. Instead, have it on a day after the end of the season and have it in a city, and give out the awards and give the guys a 45 second thank you speech window up on a stage. Also, have the Gold Glove awards awarded like 1st and 2nd All Star Teams.

The next I wish to speak of is the movement that is #occupywallstreet. Unless if you have been living under a rock, you have probably seen a couple quips about this as major media has continued to ignore this even though the actions have gone all over the world as it has gone to Canada and Europe. I have to agree with the base of this movement as it has to do with getting the criminals that reside on Wall Street to be held accountable for their actions. However, I said I would be talking about stuff that would be ticking me off, and that leads me to the actions or inaction of political officials and various Police Departments. Whether it be the NYPD luring people onto Brooklyn Bridge to arrest them, the Oakland police sending in provocateurs so that the police can disperse a legal gathering or Citibank closing it doors because too many were closing bank accounts and having them arrested (I did not realize that closing a bank account was an arrestable offence.), or Police in Regina slashing Occupiers tents. In my personal opinion, the banks should give back every single penny they received from the U.S. government, they created the problem and they shouldn't have been bailed out for making a system so unstable. I am not going to speak more on this other than the fact that the banks are able to get away with such stuff that their may be a second civil war if it keeps up in the U.S.

That is all I have for right now, as I am starting to feel very tired, so until see you again, stay vigilant.

I Hate Political Correctness

*WARNING* THIS POSTING CONTAINS SOME LANGUAGE THAT MAY NOT BE SUITABLE FOR ALL AGES, SO IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH IT, I DON'T CARE.

If you haven't figured out this from the title of this blog, this is going to go to show you why.

Reading up on some news and certain schools have stopped calling Halloween, well Halloween. It is called at these schools orange/black day. Yes, you may allow yourself to say, "Why the fuck are they dedicating a day of the year to these colours?".

I have even read that some schools are banning your typical "scary" costumes such as the classic vampire, zombie, and ghost, and encouraging kids to go as productive members of society for Halloween. Sorry, but international "Suit Up" day was earlier this month, so if you wanted kids to dress classy, that was the day to take advantage of it.

Why are parents or whoever the hell is doing this so concerned about it. Is it because they don't want kids who don't have money to feel left out? I can tell you this much, it isn't necessarily the most expensive costume that wins the prizes, it is the one that usually has the best creativity that does. I have seen a couple people come to a Halloween party in cardboard lego men costumes that win. Why it was different and innovative, not because someone poured a ton of money into an outfit to look like a slutty vampire, which lets face it, is done by almost every girl over the age of 16, well the slutty part at least.

Seriously, do the morons who advocate for this stuff know what they are actually doing? If a kid wants to dress up as something for Halloween, let them, most of the costumes they wear aren't frightening to begin with, most just look adorable as they try to act like the thing they are which usually makes people laugh from the horrible acting they are seeing.

So in conclusion to all this ranting, I have to say this, stay the fuck away from these days where children get to do something special and turn it into political correctness crap, next thing you know, we will be calling Christmas, Red/White/Green day or worse " A Day in Which A Religion That We Will Not Name Believes Their Saviour Was Born" which I will believe that will turn Easter into shortly after "A Weekend In Which A Religion That We Will Not Name Believe Their Saviour Dies and Then Rose Again After They Claim He Bore All Man's Sins On A Wooden Cross So That We Too Might Be Saved But We Just Want You To Focus On A Giant Rabbit That Really Has Nothing To Do With The Actual Meaning of This Event".
